Oh Angel, that makes me sad. It makes me want to be there with you doing something creative or geek out and watch animated films, or do something Austinish with a suburban mommy twist! I have become a little more introverted myself. Especially here at home. Try taking a class or do something to get you more on the social scene on the days Lily and Damien are in school. Grandma signed me up on also sorts of arts and crafts classes as a kid and they had adult ones too. You can also count on us family to come hang out. I miss you, sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. Send my love to the family

Always impressed by your blog Angel. My parents also left to go back to Lincoln the other day and I also feel a bit lost. Much as I love living in Central Oregon (though the summer could well arrive now!) being so far away from my family does make me feel a bit lost sometimes. Can't ring my Mum at 5pm when I'm cooking tea for a bit of advice as it's gone midnight at home, for example! How does Matt cope?

You are right and it feels great that men realize how tough it is managing a house and kids. And if you are manging well then its even more difficult. I have three kids whom i pick and drop, do grocery, cook, wash, clean, take care of kids and even work in the morning hours as a teacher...a housewife does not get a leave from the household chores even on weekends! Its a never ending job....

I was really impressed with that photo as well! Mainly because it is taken with a wide-angle lens, and most photos of people taken with a wide-angle lens don't look good. Her face is a bit distorted by the lens, but it actually adds to the photo because she is so immediate... she seems to pop out of the photo. And with all the colorful marker and her expression, she almost seems three-dimensional.

All because I didn't want to use the telephoto because the lighting was low and I didn't want to use flash. :) Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have used a wide-angle for a close-up picture of a person, but it was overcast and my choices were telephoto with a flash or wide-angle with natural light.

Makes you realize that photography is quite often luck mixed with skill. Which is part of the fun of it, isn't it? It's always fun to be handed a gem that you weren't expecting.

I think the depth of field is also really cool, which I was also not expecting. Usually, a wide-angle brings everything, including the background, in focus. But I guess the aperture was wide open because the lighting was so low, and that's what gave it such a small depth of field.

Lily was sad when we made her wash the marker off to go to the bed. She said all the colors made her beautiful. I don't know if it was the colors or how happy she was to have the colors on her, but either way, she did look beautiful. :)
