It has such a large following that I don&#8217;t think it can even be classified as &#8220;cult&#8221; anymore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/L.A._Story\">L.A. Story<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Who would have pegged <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steve_Martin\">Steve Martin<\/a> for such a romantic? Matt hasn&#8217;t seen this one yet. I think I&#8217;ll rent it and we can have a romantic couple night with candles, ice cream, L.A. Story, and two\u00c2\u00a0hyper preschool\u00c2\u00a0children&#8230; yeah, that&#8217;ll work. \ud83d\ude09<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Birdcage\">The Birdcage<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>I know what you&#8217;re thinking:\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;The Birdcage?! That&#8217;s not a romance.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Au contraire mon frere (heh heh, a little homage to the original <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/La_Cage_aux_Folles_%28film%29\">La Cage aux Folles<\/a> which I didn&#8217;t like as much).\u00c2\u00a0 One of the best, heart-warming romance scenes of cinema is in this movie:\u00c2\u00a0 When Armand and Albert are sitting on the bus stop bench together and what Armand says to Albert&#8230; ah, magic.\u00c2\u00a0 Pure romantic magic.\u00c2\u00a0 And\u00c2\u00a0the movie is\u00c2\u00a0really funny to boot (as is L.A. Story &#8212; you get great comedy and a romance!).\u00c2\u00a0 Agador Sparticus steals every scene he is in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0084637\/\">The Scarlet Pimpernel<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>According to my mom, the book is actually not very good at all.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>And, in honor of my romantic sister, the live action version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0128996\/\">Cinderella<\/a> with Whitney Houston and Brandy\n<ul>\n<li>Carla has watched this so many times, she has the songs memorized.\u00c2\u00a0 It is very good.\u00c2\u00a0 I like it as well&#8230; but maybe not quite as much. \ud83d\ude09<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I was thinking of adding <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ella_Enchanted_%28film%29\">Ella Enchanted<\/a> because technically it is a romance, but it is not the romance story that appeals to me in this movie.\u00c2\u00a0 The central theme is that Ella must change herself &#8211;\u00c2\u00a0not look to someone else to\u00c2\u00a0change her into the person she wants to be &#8211;\u00c2\u00a0and that is why I like the movie.\u00c2\u00a0 The romance is just a side dish, and just an okay one at that.\u00c2\u00a0 The central theme, however,\u00c2\u00a0is quite delicious (as is the singing and dancing&#8230; quite fun and silly).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The kiddos playing in water again.
