{"id":13,"date":"2006-09-03T21:44:43","date_gmt":"2006-09-04T02:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.angelsdesk.com\/angel\/blog\/?p=13"},"modified":"2006-09-04T11:29:13","modified_gmt":"2006-09-04T16:29:13","slug":"my-adventures-in-sewing-or-what-ive-learned-so-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.angelsdesk.com\/?p=13","title":{"rendered":"My Adventures in Sewing (or What I&#8217;ve Learned So Far)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first striking think I&#8217;ve learned about sewing is that it is <em>not<\/em> a fast hobby.\u00c2\u00a0 I realize that I&#8217;m a complete beginner, but after a day of work, all I&#8217;ve managed to do is cut out two of the four pieces of cloth and mark them.<\/p>\n<p>True, at least half of the time can be\u00c2\u00a0attributed to my sheer lack of experience, but even accounting for that, sewing is a very slow process.\u00c2\u00a0 But I guess you can say that about almost any hobby.\u00c2\u00a0 Cooking, gardening, coding &#8212; to create anything requires a fair amount of time and effort.<\/p>\n<p>My second observation regarding sewing: many sewing enthusiasts seem to have cats.\u00c2\u00a0 It turns out that cats are quite&#8230; well, let&#8217;s just use the word &#8220;mischievous&#8221; so I don&#8217;t piss off too many cat lovers.<\/p>\n<p>Several times, I found Raven (my cat) sleeping on my fabric after I had laborously washed, dried, and ironed it.\u00c2\u00a0 After shooing her off more than once and I began working with the fabric (therefore she could no longer lounge on it), she decided my pattern (which had also been ironed) was second best to my fabric as a cushion.\u00c2\u00a0 Every time I removed her from my pattern and put it somewhere else on the desk, she would\u00c2\u00a0follow it like metal shavings following a magnet.\u00c2\u00a0 Every time I turned around, she was laying on the pattern again.\u00c2\u00a0 And finally, with my pattern and cloth laid out over the table as I was cutting the fabric, she tried several times to jump on the table.<\/p>\n<p>Cats can be both annoying and funny in the sewing area.<\/p>\n<p>Did I mention it was a slow hobby?\u00c2\u00a0 Hopefully I will complete my Halloween jammie pants before Halloween. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first striking think I&#8217;ve learned about sewing is that it is not a fast hobby.\u00c2\u00a0 I realize that I&#8217;m a complete beginner, but after a day of work, all I&#8217;ve managed to do is cut out two of the four pieces of cloth and mark them.
