Recently in my never-ending search for the mythical fool-proof organizational system, I found the FlyLady site<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s a lovely site full of affirmation and hope.\u00c2\u00a0 I am definitely going to try this system.<\/p>\n But the FlyLady’s system is not what this blog entry is about.\u00c2\u00a0 This blog entry is about an anonymous letter sent to the FlyLady.\u00c2\u00a0 First, I must explain that in her system, you begin simply by making your sink shine everyday.\u00c2\u00a0 She said, even if your entire house is a mess, if your sink is shiny, you feel hope.\u00c2\u00a0 And from that small shiny sink, the cleanliness will spread.\u00c2\u00a0 As I continued to surf her site, I found this testimonial<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It is very moving.\u00c2\u00a0 And short. \u00c2\u00a0So go read it real quick and come back. \u00c2\u00a0I’ll wait.<\/p>\n It seems to me that shining the sink and making the bed were starting points.\u00c2\u00a0 From these two measurable beginnings, you slowly progressed.\u00c2\u00a0 And if you had a bad day, you always had a reset point: shining the sink and making the bed.<\/p>\n I don’t have a habitual reset point.\u00c2\u00a0 But if today was the first day — if today was my beginning — where would I start?\u00c2\u00a0 Would it be shining the sink?\u00c2\u00a0 What small task would I repeat every day, even if I managed to get nothing else done?\u00c2\u00a0 It’s fun — and exciting — to make a beginning.\u00c2\u00a0 Turning it into habit… well, that’s another matter. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Matt and Lily in the playhouse.
