{"id":70,"date":"2007-05-16T08:32:00","date_gmt":"2007-05-16T13:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.angelsdesk.com\/angel\/blog\/?p=70"},"modified":"2007-05-16T08:33:07","modified_gmt":"2007-05-16T13:33:07","slug":"longing-for-the-past","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.angelsdesk.com\/?p=70","title":{"rendered":"Longing for the past&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"photo_h\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.angelsdesk.com\/photos\/2007\/05\/Lily_08May2007.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nLily playing in her &#8220;house.&#8221;<br \/>\n08 May 2007<\/p>\n<p>I had a rare pang for the past this morning.\u00c2\u00a0 That hardly ever happens anymore.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m so ridiculously happy with my current life that I very rarely wish for things to be different.<\/p>\n<p>But on this quiet, cool morning, I longed for the past so much it hurt.\u00c2\u00a0 I remembered all the good times I had with Gene and all the goofy things we did with our friends, and it hurt.\u00c2\u00a0 I missed my life with him.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if Matt ever does that.\u00c2\u00a0 I wonder if Matt ever misses England and his friends and family\u00c2\u00a0sometimes, and his heart aches.\u00c2\u00a0 I bet he does &#8212; how could he not?\u00c2\u00a0 He gets very melancholy when it rains.\u00c2\u00a0 I think the smell and the sound remind him of England.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a\u00c2\u00a0 good thing we have such a lovely life here together to help us get through\u00c2\u00a0those painful nostalgic moments<\/p>\n<p>On a completely different topic, I will be getting ordained by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themonastery.org\/\">Universal Life Church<\/a> in order to marry my niece.\u00c2\u00a0 She&#8217;s 19-years-old marrying a 35-year-old.\u00c2\u00a0 No one is pleased with the match with the exception of her Aunt Cindy.\u00c2\u00a0 Either people think she is marrying too young or marrying the wrong person.\u00c2\u00a0 So she&#8217;s really bummed about her wedding because no one is involved with it.<\/p>\n<p>So we decided that if I get ordained, then she will be mobile.\u00c2\u00a0 The wedding can be special in that way.\u00c2\u00a0 She can get married in whatever setting she chooses.<\/p>\n<p>I told her that just because it&#8217;s me that will be marrying them, it is still a binding legal contract as well as an oath before her friends, family and God, and therefore needs to be taken seriously.\u00c2\u00a0 And she said she understood.<\/p>\n<p>I asked Carla if she was upset that I was doing this (she is one of the folks that thinks the marriage will fail), and she said no.\u00c2\u00a0 She said that she hopes that I don&#8217;t regret this decision.\u00c2\u00a0 That was an interesting comment.\u00c2\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t quite thought that one through yet.\u00c2\u00a0 I wonder if other ordained ministers or justices of the peace regret marrying two people?\u00c2\u00a0 It was a really interesting comment.\u00c2\u00a0 Considering that marriage is supposed to be an extremely happy event, it was also a\u00c2\u00a0sad and morbid comment.\u00c2\u00a0 But people are always thinking such things, ie. planning the divorce before the marriage; otherwise we wouldn&#8217;t have prenuptial agreements.<\/p>\n<p>Shelly just phoned.\u00c2\u00a0 Time to chat. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lily playing in her &#8220;house.&#8221; 08 May 2007 I had a rare pang for the past this morning.\u00c2\u00a0 That hardly ever happens anymore.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m so ridiculously happy with my current life that I very rarely wish for things to be different.
